Almost Done

Things are beginning to look pretty good.
I still have many things to fix, especially for sprites with (tileno&0x4000) , but most of the work is done now.

It's so nice to see only positive feedback for once! I've never really played the Raiden series but I look forward to being able to now! Cool stuff!

I give a huge amount of thanks to you Nicolas. Now, I suppose, its only a matter of patience for me to wait for the next version of Mame. And by the way, Raiden Fighters 2 is unbelievable.

Simply Amazing, Nicola is pure genius ! Congratulations Man ;)

There are 2 versions of Raiden Fighters 2 and Raiden Fighters Jet.
The original SPI versions and the later 2000 versions. Raiden Fighters Jet 2000 is not in MAME currently.

The game that Nicola has so far completely decrypted is the Raiden Fighters 2 2000 version. Does this mean that the SPI and 2000 version have the same encryption?

Might not seem original but its the only thing i can do is give my sincerest feelings and say THANK YOU. Not only is your work great, but it brings great pleasure for many many ppl around the world!

Nicola, thanks once again for the incredible work that you have accomplished. It's truly amazing and you have my sincerest gratitude.
Just a question about the sound. Is the encryption on the SP1 boards as difficult to decode as the graphics? Who is completing the work on that front? Is it Ville? It would be truly amazing to have perfectly decrypted sound as well as graphics...ho ho ^_^

RF2 2000 was a "budget" release board, and is in many ways inferior to the original RF2 release (much of the music was removed, and the difficulty is different. there was a similar 2000 release of Raiden Fighters Jet.) Someone recently figured out that if you copy the graphics ROM files from the RF2_2K romset into rf2_us.zip, that version is playable, albeit with bad sound. I'm looking forward to Viper Phase 1 the most though... Keep up the good work.

rf2 was actually released on a budget single PCB before the dreaded 2000 version. This version is identical to the SPI version except that the sound is only in Mono and the settings are stored in EEPROM. Seibu were masters or reeingineering their hardware. Here are some pictures of the various types for the curious:

And let me add that I am very impressed and grateful for Dr Salmoria's SPI work!

The sound is not encrypted. There are issues with the flash ROM update mechanism (which you end users are gonna hate once we emulate, because it means a 5-7 minute startup time for the games), and the YMF271 doesn't support FM right now because Raizing and Jaleco didn't need it.

You deserve a doctors degree in emulation :)
