Raiden 2 is completely different hardware. OG figured out most of the graphics encryption, but it has other protection that's keeping the game from being playable.

I really love Seibu's work. This is great, great stuff. I'm amazed. So much ground breaking decryption happening lately. I'm glad it's not the barrier that it once was.
Who's working on the sound core that SPI uses? Man, that needs alot of work. RF1 is listenable, but still a far cry from the real thing.

Aside to #3 and #4: Raiden 2 and DX may be completely different hardware, but it was by the same company. It's difficult to avoid wondering if the amazing work done here would have any application to them.
Certainly if the graphics were completely cleared up, it would be more rewarding/more motivation to examine the protection and anything else preventing full completion of the driver. Obviously everyone is hoping to a similar situation develop with SPI-- graphics decrypted, now let's get it perfect. Well, I guess we'll see!

I never got to play Raiden Fighters or any of the Raiden games in that series. I've only played Raiden 1,2,DX.
But I can understand that 2 and DX can't be done at the moment and am grateful that I have the chance to try some 'new' *at least new to me* shooters...

To get away from all this newer decryption stuff, Maby you can look at an old rarely mention game that you added many moons ago?
The game is Great Swordsman, it has been tagged with an incorrect colors flag forever. Maby you could have a look thru that old but damn good game and give it a new improved Nicola shining? :)
Anyway just a suggestion! Mame is great and that should make you a proud father.
if you read the previous post, instead wasting your and my time writting lame questions, you would know that Viper Phase 1 is aready done. Introduce some quality to your life and sometimes DO sth on your own.
Does Viper Phase 1 have encypted sound ROMs? It sure sounds like it. the samples are all static. Sounds differently messed up than the other games on the system.
Thank you Nicola! I've loved MAME from the beginning (being a Mr. Do fan). Now you've made my son very happy right before his birthday (he's 13). Raiden Fighters has always been his favorite game to play in an arcade. Thanks again!!! It's good to have you back in an active role =)
Great work man! without a question you are the best, what its like 90% of the seibu games are playable thanks to you, yeah some sound/graphics issues on the games but I know you will make em better, WOW! Awesome just awesome, thanks Nicola. Keep up the great work!
